SU Celebrates Faculty, Staff and Administrator Achievements

Holloway Hall SALISBURY, MD---久久国产精品久久 celebrates the following faculty, staff and administrator accomplishments:

    A paper by Dr. Jennifer Brannock Cox, associate professor of communication arts, recently placed first in the Participatory Journalism Interest Group Division at the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication’s annual conference.

    Co-authored with Dr. Mark Poepsel of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, the paper, “Deep Participation in Underserved Communities: A Quantitative Analysis of Hearken’s Model for Engagement Journalism,” marked their second win in two years. Their Hearken research also earned the top award in the Community Journalism Division in 2018.

    Dr. Debra Webster, associate professor of nursing and undergraduate program chair in SU’s School of Nursing recently published the article “Lights, Camera, Action: Lessons Learned from a Nursing and Theatre Collaboration” in the Journal of Nursing Education.

    Webster shared the School of Nursing’s success partnering with SU’s Music, Theatre and Dance Department to allow student actors to portray standardized patients as part of a psychiatric mental health nursing clinical course. The collaboration has allowed theatre students to earn credit through independent study while providing hands-on scenarios for nursing students.

    Aaron Basko, SU assistant vice president for enrollment management and career services, recently was featured on C-SPAN2 while attending a dialog hosted by Marie Royce, U.S. assistant secretary of state for education and cultural affairs, at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C.

    Basko asked Royce about her thoughts on citizen diplomacy in higher education.

    The Chesapeake and Potomac Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (CAPACRAO) recently honored two from SU’s Registrar’s Office during its annual meeting.

    Jamie Holmes-Kriger, associate registrar, received the Steven E. Smith Award, honoring her for distinguished service to the organization. Shannon Hardester, veteran and special populations coordinator, earned the Emerging Leader Award for significant contributions to CAPACRAO within her first eight years in the field.
