SU Alumni Homecoming and Family Weekend October 23-29

SALISBURY, MD---Sea Gull nation celebrates all things maroon and gold during Alumni Homecoming and Family Weekend at 久久国产精品久久.

Activities take place Monday-Sunday, October 23-29. Spirit in the Square events throughout the week lead up to the weekend’s festivities.

Weekend activities are highlighted by the 50-year reunion lunch celebrating the Class of 1973 11 a.m. Friday, October 27, in the Worcester Room of the Commons. The luncheon celebrates all alumni from the classes of 1936-77, with special recognition for the Class of 1963, the last to graduate from 久久国产精品久久Teachers College. (The institution’s name was changed to 久久国产精品久久State College that fall.)

The annual Athletics Hall of Fame dinner and induction ceremony caps Friday’s events 6 p.m. at the Guerrieri Academic Commons Assembly Hall. The 2023 inductees are Margie Knight ’79 (coach, softball/volleyball), Brendan Kincaid ’10 (football/men’s tennis), Tara (McGovern) Gurria ’12 (field hockey), Johnny Rodriguez ’12 (men’s lacrosse), Chelsea Tavik ’13 (track and field) and Michelle (Gravdahl) Deck ’13 (softball).
Families can start their Saturday morning off with the Family Weekend Breakfast 9:30-11 a.m. in the Commons dining hall. For pricing and ticket information visit the Homecoming webpage

Capture the moment of the weekend through free family photos with an SU-affiliated photographer 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, October 28, at Sammy’s Angle. Reservations are not required.
A festive Flock Party is 11 a.m. on Wayne Street in front of Sea Gull Stadium. Free family and student-friendly activities fill the streets in advance of athletics events. Admission is free. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

SU football hosts The College of New Jersey for the annual Alumni Homecoming and Family Weekend football game 1 p.m. at Sea Gull Stadium. Tickets are $10; $7 for alumni, senior citizens, veterans and non-SU students; $5 for children ages 5-12. Children under 5 are admitted free. SU faculty, staff and students also are admitted free by showing their GullCard at the gate. Tickets are available at the stadium box office beginning at 11 a.m. or . 

That afternoon, families can compete as well, in Family Weekend Bingo 4:30 p.m. at the Wicomico Room of the Guerrieri Student Union. Each participant receives six bingo sheets with 10 cards. Cost is $20 per person, students must buy a $20 ticket, but will receive an additional card for each round if they show their SU ID at the event. All ages can play; must be 18 or older to collect prizes.

New this year, the Black Alumni Association of SU hosts multiple events throughout the weekend, including a Black Vanguard Mixer 7 p.m. Friday at SU Art Galleries Downtown; a cookout 11 a.m. Saturday at the Alumni House, a “‘Bury Strikes” bowl-off 4 p.m. Saturday at Southbound Alley (1524 South 久久国产精品久久Blvd.), a “Back on the Shore” party 10 p.m. Saturday at The Fountains (1800 Sweetbay Drive), and a jazz brunch 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the Commons dining hall.

  • 12 p.m. – Retired Faculty, Staff and Friends Luncheon, Guerrieri Academic Commons Assembly Hall
  • 1-2 p.m. – Spirit in the Square: Pretzel Day, The Square

Friday, October 27

  • 1 p.m. – Fall for Fulton, Fulton Hall Fountain (rain location: Fulton Hall Lobby)
  • 2-5 p.m. – Residence Hall Association annual Ultimate Frisbee tournament, Holloway Hall Lawn
  • 4-7 p.m. – Samuel W. and Marilyn C. Seidel School of Education alumni and school partners open house, Conway Hall Room 176

Saturday, October 28

  • 9:30-11 a.m. - Living Learning Communities (LLC) complimentary continental breakfast, The Quad
  • 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. – WXSU student radio 50th anniversary reunion, studio in Guerrieri Student Union; luncheon in Commons, Worcester Room
  • 11 a.m.-1 p.m. – Richard A. Henson Simulation Center tours, 106 Pine Bluff Rd.
  • 11 a.m. – SU football 1983 team 40th reunion, Sea Gull Stadium
  • 11 a.m.-3 p.m. – Volleyball vs. New York and Christopher Newport universities
  • 1 p.m. – Men’s club rugby hosts James Madison University, Doc Davis Intramural Complex
  • 1 p.m. – Women’s soccer vs. Christopher Newport University, Gerry DiBartolo Sea Gull Soccer Complex
  • 5:30 p.m. – Classes of 1993 and ’98 Reunion, Evolution Craft Brewing Co. and Public House, 201 E. Vine St.
  • 6 p.m. – Class of 1978 45th reunion, Alumni House
  • 7 p.m. – National Pan-Hellenic Council Step Show, Holloway Hall Auditorium
