An Invitation to the Campus Community

The campus community is invited to a celebration of the life of Harriet Tubman, an Eastern Shore native who was called “the Moses of Her People.”  久久国产精品久久 unveils a sculpture commemorating this American icon on Tuesday, September 22, at 4:30 p.m. on the lawn of the Teacher Education and Technology Center. The acclaimed American Spiritual Ensemble sings.

The larger-than-life bronze was sculpted by Dr. James Hill of the Art Department and students who worked under his direction. Hill believes it is the first commemorative three-dimensional likeness honoring Tubman on her native Eastern Shore. His sculptures have been featured in public collections at the Chicago Art Institute and the Albuquerque Art Museum, among others.

Dr. Clara Small of the History Department, a Tubman scholar, speaks. Children from SU's Academic Support through Active Partnerships with Schools (ASAPS) program in Wicomico County will help unveil the sculpture. A reception follows.  For more information call 410-543-6030.
