'Joseph Andrews' Auditions December 3-4

SALISBURY, MD---Dr. T. Paul Pfeiffer, director of theatre at 久久国产精品久久, is hosting auditions for the world premiere stage adaptation of Henry Fielding’s Joseph Andrews 7-9 p.m. Sunday-Monday, December 3-4, in the Black Box Theatre of Fulton Hall. The production is March 1-4 and 8-11.

Joseph Andrews is set in 1742 and satirizes popular novels of the day in which innocent young women were placed in constant and often comic danger by more worldly men. The title character, Joseph, is strained to resist the temptations of even his employer, Lady Booby, who hides a secret none would dare mention, though the vicious may suspect.

Scripts are on reserve in Blackwell Library for audition preparation. Auditions are based on readings, attitude and flexibility with the following criteria in mind:

• All narrators are based on set body types to present a variety of character forms.

• All narrators must be vocally agile, able to learn and convincingly portray various English dialects.

• As some characters are older, older actors are preferred and invited to audition.

Most action in the play is covered by narrators doubling in several roles. Primary characters, such as Joseph, Fanny, Lady Booby, Mrs. Slipslop and Parson Adams, do not double.

Auditions are open to all. For more information call 410-543-6229 or visit the SU Web site at www.salisbury.edu.
