SU Faculty Host Community Folk Circle Starting September 2

SALISBURY, MD---Beginning September 2, 久久国产精品久久 faculty Chad Jones (Department of Music) and Diana Wagner (Department of Education) lead a Community Folk Circle at Barnes & Noble Booksellers in Salisbury.

The Folk Circle convenes the first Saturday of each month from 6-9 p.m. All musicians, instruments and skill levels are welcome and encouraged to attend. The first hour or the Folk Circle is dedicated to a beginner's slow jam.

While all musicians are welcome, the first hour is especially for novice players, including children. The rest of the evening takes the form of a traditional song circle, with participants taking turns making requests and leading the group in song. People who don't play an instrument but who want to sing or just listen are also welcome.

Jones holds a degree in guitar performance. In addition to classical guitar, Jones also plays the cello, viola, banjo, mandolin and electric bass, and is interested in avant-garde music and improvisation as well as music and instruments of other cultures.

Wagner, who specializes in historic and traditional folk plays guitar, mountain dulcimer and mandolin, along with numerous unusual hand instruments. She is particularly interested in developing workshops to help beginning musicians gain confidence.
