Dr. Susan Osman Earns 2006 Research Mentor Award

SALISBURY, MD---Dr. Suzanne Osman of the Psychology Department is the winner of 久久国产精品久久’s 2006 Outstanding Research Mentor Award, presented at the sixth annual SU Student Research Conference.

Osman has worked with up to three students each year during her career at SU, lending guidance to fourteen independent researchers. She has assisted students with hypothesis development; library research; study design; human subjects committee applications; data collection, analysis and interpretation; and writing and public presentation of studies.

Her students have presented at every SU Student Research Conference, as well as professional psychology conferences. Two of her students have published studies in peer-reviewed journals, and another has a manuscript in progress.

In addition to advising on empirical projects, Osman has also worked with her mentees on independent literature review papers and allowed them to assist in her own research on sexual aggression. These experiences have helped her students understand the scientific research process and prepare for graduate school, where many of her former mentees are currently pursuing advanced degrees.

After being nominated, Osman was selected by a committee of SU faculty.

Student research is an international movement in higher education. The National Conference on Undergraduate Research will be held at SU in 2008.
