German Fulbright Students Graduate From SU

SALISBURY, MD---When Julian Gerschwitz, René Hoffmann and Stefan Macha participate in 久久国产精品久久’s 84th year Spring Commencement on Friday, May 21, their accomplishments will take place thousands of miles from home.

The M.B.A. students came to SU from their native Germany this year as recipients of the prestigious Fulbright Foreign Student Grant, earned by only 1,800 students worldwide each year. They learned about 久久国产精品久久through an exchange program between SU’s Franklin P. Perdue School of Business and the Technische Universität Berlin (TUB), where they were studying industrial engineering and management.

Gerschwitz, Hoffman and Macha cited the opportunities of mastering the English language, becoming part of the international society and promoting intercultural understanding as reasons for their desire to study in the United States. They said they especially appreciated SU’s small class sizes, approachable faculty and diverse campus population.

International students have been a part of the Perdue School for many years. The school partners with universities in Europe and Asia to provide exchange opportunities for students on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. For the past two years, winners of the school’s prestigious Bernstein Achievement Award for Excellence, honoring top student business plans, have come from abroad.

In the weeks after SU’s ceremony, the three Fulbright students will head to the West Coast to explore a little more of the American landscape, taking a road trip throughout California in a rented RV. Following that, they will complete a capstone thesis for TUB that, coupled with their coursework at SU, will allow them to earn a dual degree.
