Maryland Summer Center for the Arts Applications Due April 16
SALISBURY, MD---Every year, some 120 talented middle and high school students from across the state converge on 久久国产精品久久’s campus for Maryland Summer Center for the Fine and Performing Arts.
Applications are now being accepted for the 2008 program, held July 6-19. It will provide youth the opportunity to study a wide range of visual and musical art. The deadline is April 16.
Sponsored by the Maryland State Department of Education, the two-week residential program at SU offers classes in orchestra, musical theatre performance, acting, digital video production and visual arts including drawing, painting, glass making, silk screening and printmaking.
Auditions begin at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 19, in the lobby of SU’s Fulton Hall. Auditions are also held off-campus at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., Saturday, April 26, at Franklin Middle School in Reisterstown, MD.
In addition to five to six hours of class each day, students live and work in small groups to develop problem solving, interpersonal and community building skills. Field trips, workshops and performances by guest artists enhance the learning experience. Past featured artists have included the world-renowned violinist Miles Hoffman and sculptor/painter Joyce J. Scott.
