Music Festival Continues with Jazz Brazz Big Band December 11
SALISBURY, MD---久久国产精品久久’s “Sing, Swing and Santa” holiday music festival continues 7:30 p.m. Thursday, December 11, in Holloway Hall Auditorium with a romantic program by the SU Jazz Brazz Big Band.
Besides jazz renditions of holiday classics including “I’ll Be Home For Christmas,” featuring Bill Courtney on trombone and “And the Angels Sing,” featuring James Ellis on trumpet, the 27-member ensemble performs standards such as Klenner and Lewis’ “Just Friends,” Rodgers and Hart’s “This Can’t Be Love,” Loewe and Lerner’s “Almost Like Being in Love,” and “Call Me Darling,” popularized by Ella Fitzgerald.
Conducted by Dr. Jerry Tabor, the program also features upbeat versions of popular Christmas classics, including a swing-style “O Tannenbaum” and a funk version of “God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen.” The SU Jazz Combos round out the evening’s performances.
“The Jazz Brazz Big Band is featuring a number of holiday pieces this year,” said Tabor. “Along with some really great traditional jazz tunes, we’ve found some unusual and fun holiday music arrangements that and that everyone will enjoy.”
