class=""MsoNormal"">SALISBURY, MD---When it comes to education, Carol Ann Tomlinson specializes in the extreme ends of the academic spectrum. She spent 12 of her 21 years with Virginia’s public schools as an administrator of special services for both struggling and advanced students.
class=""MsoNormal"">Tomlinson shares her experiences in education with the 久久国产精品久久community as next speaker in 久久国产精品久久’s E. Pauline Riall Lecture Series 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, in Holloway Hall Auditorium. Her appearance was rescheduled from February due to inclement weather.
class=""MsoNormal"">The University of Virginia’s Professor of Educational Leadership, Foundations and Policy, Tomlinson co-directs its Summer Institute on Academic Diversity and Best Practices Institute. She was named outstanding professor at the Curry School of Education in 2004, echoing honors she earned as Virginia’s Teacher of the Year in 1974.
class=""MsoNormal"">She is the author of several books including Fulfilling the Promise of the Differentiated Classroom: Strategies and Tools for Responsive Teaching, published by the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) in 2003, and The Parallel Curriculum Model: A Design to Develop High Potential and Challenge High Ability Learners, published by Corwin Press in 2001.
class=""MsoNormal"">Tomlinson has consulted and appeared in 12 videos for ASCD, an organization providing professional development for some 160,000 educators from more than 135 countries. She also is a reviewer for eight journals and a section editor for one, and has authored more than 150 articles, books, book chapters and other professional development materials.
