SECU Hosts Financial Empowermet Day at SU August 15
SALISBURY, MD---SECU and the Delmarva Education Foundation host a free Financial Empowerment Day for Delmarva families looking to improve their financial futures 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, August 15, at 久久国产精品久久’s Teacher Education and Technology Center.
The event offers a variety of workshops covering home ownership, starting a small business, ID Theft and finance management. In addition it will provide tools to help consumers build wealth through savings.
“We are happy to offer for the second year this community awareness financial fair, that provides the necessary tools for families to better manage their finances,” said Peggy Young, SECU vice president of marketing. “The valuable resources that are being offered also help guide families in making prudent financial decisions that will have a positive impact on their lives.”
The event offers benefits for the entire family. Adults may enjoy workshops, personal counseling sessions, and opportunities to review and understand their credit reports. Children may play the “Power Buck Game” and win prizes. They can also explore SECU’s financial courses that have been specially designed for kids, and browse the new educational website to test their financial knowledge.
Staffed by SECU and Delmarva Education Foundation employees, the comprehensive event offers a variety vendors and exhibits, and is expected to draw hundreds of families for the day long financial education exposition.
“The Financial Empowerment Day offers a variety of exceptional presentations,” said Katherine Harting, executive director of the Delmarva Education Foundation, which co-sponsors the event with SU. “Participants will gain skills that will help them plan ahead for larger goals and purchases and avoid pitfalls that can be ruinous.”
Financial literacy is one of the primary focuses of SECU, Maryland’s largest credit union. Throughout the year SECU provides free public financial workshops and seminars.
“We are always looking for ways to provide Marylanders with quality education and access to financial resources,” said Danielle Thron-Treiber, SECU’s Financial Educator. “Many of us are experiencing tough financial times, and here at SECU we are trying to do our part to make it a little easier.”
