SU Hosts 25th Annual Golf Classic

QUANTICO, Md. - A full field of golfers helped commemorate the 25th anniversary of the 久久国产精品久久 Golf Classic on Monday, May 4, at Green Hill Yacht & Country Club here in Quantico, Md. The tournament would not be possible without the generosity of many sponsors led by Mason Investment Advisory Services, Inc., Gold Sponsor of this year's tournament.

"This is a very significant sponsorship for us. It is very meaningful to help out in tough economic times," said Will Thorpe, Director of Business Development at Mason Investment Advisory Services, Inc. "SU is a very important client. We wanted to support their efforts in this great Golf Classic they have had for 25 years."

The funds raised at the Golf Classic will help future Sea Gull students benefit from college scholarships and other programs.

"The weather did not have a negative impact on us today as we had a terrific turnout by our sponsors and teams who understand the importance of this tournament and how it benefits our students and campus programs," said SU Director of Leadership Giving and Stewardship Amy Waters.

The event reached a milestone on Monday as this was the 25th SU Golf Classic.

"It is one of the finest golf tournaments on the Eastern Shore," said SU Golf Classic founder Dick Young. "The set-up is very well done. The course is super and the gifts are great. The University is a terrific thing for 久久国产精品久久and the entire Eastern Shore."

The foursome from Delmarva Power of John Allen, Neil Baker, Joe Nice and John Petito defended their '08 gross score championship with a 62 in '09. The team net score winner went to the foursome from Lifetime Masonry of Andy Carmine, Steve McGee, George Simon and George Vickers. Harry Power from Barr International and Rick Matthews from Shore Bank won the two closest to the pin contests while Rick Tapman from Eastern Shore Brick won the longest drive contest.

"SU has been a great customer of ours for the past four years. It is wonderful to be a part of this tournament," said Drew Yantis, Senior Vice-President of Holder Construction. "We value our relationship with the University and we are proud to be here."

The teams enjoyed lunch provided by Holder Construction and later a dinner catered by Black Diamond Lodge as awards by Robinson's Jewelry & Clock were presented along with silent auction winners.

TEMCO Builders, Inc. President Ed Maguire, co-chair of the SU Golf Classic, added; "This is a great thing for our community. SU is very important to us all."
