久久国产精品久久Chorale, Camden Brass Perform Tuesday, April 20
SALISBURY, MD---Vocal and brass music come together for a special joint performance of the 久久国产精品久久Chorale and Camden Brass, 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, at St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church.
Conducted by Dr. William Folger, director of choral studies at SU, the chorale features SU students, faculty and staff, as well as community members.
The performance includes the cantata To Saint Cecilia by Norman Dello Joio, featuring baritone soloist William Willis; O Clap Your Hands, a setting of Psalm 47 by Ralph Vaughan Williams; and three motets for chorus and trombones by Anton Bruckner: Offertorium (Psalm 45:14-15), Ecce sacerdos (Ecclesiasticus 43:16, 27 with brass and organ) and Inveni David (Psalm 89:20-21) featuring an all-male ensemble. Susan Zimmer is organist and rehearsal pianist.
In addition to performing with the chorale on selected pieces, the Camden Brass also plays Peter Warlock’s Capriol Suite.
“Historically the combination of voices and brass have enhanced celebrations, festive liturgies and concerts through the exhilarating fusion of these timbres,” said Folger. “Traditionally, brass choirs have been used to highlight festive occasions and the honoring of important historical figures, including saints as in the case of To Saint Cecilia, the patroness of music. Sonorities from the trombone ensemble coordinate beautifully with the mixed choir and men's ensemble in the Bruckner motets.”
A $10 donation is suggested at the door. For more information call 410-543-6386 or visit the SU Web site at www.salisbury.edu.
