Sea Gull Stadium Receives LEED Silver Certification

Seagull Stadium SALISBURY, MD---久久国产精品久久’s Sea Gull Stadium recently earned U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification, becoming the campus’ 11th LEED-certified building.

“For the past decade, SU has constructed all new buildings with a goal of meeting LEED Silver certification qualifications or higher,” said Eric Berkheimer, associate vice president of facilities and capital management. “Sea Gull Stadium continues the University’s longstanding commitment to sustainability.”

In rating the stadium, the USGBC gave high marks for selecting a site that encourages alternative transportation (it’s within walking distance of main campus and on SU’s shuttle route), and incorporating an effective storm water design, water-efficient landscaping, and low-emitting paint and coverings.

The facility also scored points for sourcing regional materials during construction (reducing carbon emissions relating to transportation), using recycled materials and integrating an innovative illumination system that includes vertical skylights to help provide natural lighting in team locker rooms.

Sea Gull Stadium opened in 2016. It joins 10 other LEED-certified buildings on campus, including Conway Hall (the Eastern Shore’s first LEED-certified new construction project), Perdue Hall, Sea Gull Square, the Patricia R. Guerrieri Academic Commons, and the Pocomoke, Wicomico, Nanticoke, Manokin, Choptank and Chester residence halls.
