Zaprowski Presented Paper at Johnstown Conference

SALISBURY, MD---Dr. Brent Zaprowski of the Department of Geography and Geosciences in the Richard A. Henson School of Science and Technology at 久久国产精品久久 recently presented a paper at the Pennsylvania Geographic Society meeting held in Johnstown.

Zaprowski's presentation described the relationship between a stream's shape (concavity) and the annual amount of precipitation and runoff.  The subject streams were part of 40 Great Plains basins  from North Dakota to Texas that were similar in size, topography and vegetation.

Zaprowski's research results showed that the intensity of rainfall had the greatest influence over the stream's size and that a change to a stormier climate leads to the stream bed being eroded; if the intensity of rainfall doubled, the shape of the stream bed may be tripled in depth.
